Happy Holidays

I just looked at the calendar and realized that Christmas is in TEN days!!! HOLY CRAP!!!!!

I have yet to put up my Christmas tree which is sitting in the basement or decorate in any sort of form.   I haven't gone Christmas shopping yet and my daughter has circled every toy in every circular that has come to the house.  EEEEK!  I better get a move on!

I decided to switch TV/internet/phone providers from Comcast Cable to Verizon Fios due to their new 2 year locked in deal for $79.99.  Comcast recently raised my rates $over $50 bucks and when I called asking why and can I get a discount they only offered me a $10 a month discount. They can shove it. I can't justify paying $185 bucks a month for a phone I never use but keep because I have a 5 year old, internet that is spotty and recently had the wireless stop working and I TV that I hardly watch except for dvr'd shows and kids shows for Lina.  So, this Saturday they come between 8-noon to install. YAY. That's over $100 a month I will be saving.

Since I plan on spending most of my time home this weekend, I plan on cleaning, sorting out clothes/vintage to get rid of/Lina's room and baking cookies with Lina. I found a great Betty Crocker set of over 100 cookie cutters in a huge plastic tub at Walgreens the other day for $10 bucks.

With that being said, I leave you with this picture of the nativity done in pork! hahaha I posted it on my facebook page and received comments from my guy friends that they had "bacon boners" just looking at the picture and my gal friends making comments like "it being a heart attack waiting to happen". hahaha

IT'S BEEN A WHILE-UPDATE

Again I say, it's been a while.

My daughter (Angelina) Lina turned 5 in August and started Kindergarten in September.   Here she is on her first day of school.

I found myself working a contract job as an HR/Payroll Manager at a local "football" stadium in October.  I had lost my job along with 4 others I worked with back in May. I took the summer off, interviewed for HR jobs and spent time with Lina. Money was tight but we made due.

I sold the turquoise sofa set I found in the trash and found a better suited one for my living room on ebay.

I still have to change up the color scheme but love the new set! It's more sturdy and durable.  Especially with a 5 year old haha.

I love her blog and never post so I figured it's a good excuse. Kill two birds with one stone. :)

In other news, my mom has been in and out of the hospital again.  She had a brain aneurysm in Feb 2010 and since has been putting up a good fight.  This last bout at the hospital was to replace the shunt in her brain.  Scary stuff.  She's home again thank god.
Here's a picture my friend Ramona took of my folks in happier times at a car show in CT.

That's about it for now.  Hope everyone is well and I love reading all your blogs :)

The start of a new life...

So yesterday I was laid off from my job with three other people.  It came as a shock.  Of course my shitty company didn't provide a severance and ended benefits the same day.  WTG Benefit Analysis! I immediately came home and updated my resume, filed for unemployment and NJ Family Care for health insurance for my daughter.  Unemployment isn't going to cut it when I have a 4 year old to raise, food to put in her tummy and bills to pay.  With that I decided to start sorting my vintage clothing, purses and shoes.  I've been collecting for over 20 years and realize I will NEVER have a 26" waist anymore and don't use a quarter of the shoes/purses I have.

On a side note, I found a 50s blonde desk and turquoise sectional at the house across the street from Lina's daycare.  I left a note on the door stating that if they throw out anymore furniture to PLEASE call me.  I got a call last week that the owner's son was going to be getting rid of more stuff so I immediately jumped on it.  I took some pictures of the inside of the house as well as the bedroom sets that were unfortunately promised :( BOOOO I managed to score 2 double tiered end tables and a boomerang coffee table that were part of the sectional.  The owner's son stated he threw away the corner piece and another piece to the sectional. I almost cried :(   The house is selling for $229K.  It has the most AMAZING original pink bathroom and the original wallpaper!  Take a look at the pictures below from the house!

Here are some pics of the sectional I got and the desk!

How I only wished I had the corner piece! :(

Ok now I have to go sort the vintage stuff I have to list.  I'll keep you all posted on my finds when I sort.

Ok, I tend to slack off
